| Preparing for Launch |
2014 is now the 8th year running for this unique rocket competition.
First held in 2007, 2014 seen me visit Golfhill Primary on 28th May 2014 to instruct the kids of P7 on how to build a rocket, along with a few basic lessons on Rocketry, Aerodynamics and Physics. After 8 successful years of coaching and encouraging the kids to participate, it shouldn't be long before Airdrie's first Werner Von Braun emerges (NASA watch this space) LOL.

This years competition was very close indeed. The first three rockets, each receiving a prize, were literally only centimeters apart.

We seen the usual array of designs, including rainbow colours, streamers and of course, the obligatory silver 1950's inspired silver flying machines.

Suitably attired in wellies and waterproof coat approximately 30 rockets were fired over 1 hour.
Thankfully the deluge of rain we had being having earlier that day and overnight had stopped and although overcast, there was no wind - perfect flying conditions.

Back at the classroom, assisted by my daughter Zoe (a runner up back in 2008 - the second competition), a short congratulations was given to all the kids for taking part.

Prizes were then presented in reverse order from third to first.
